We consider such communication to serve a dual purpose: a school counselor can provide updates and contextualizing information for the admissions committee to consider, while admissions officers can share W&L program information, admissions and class profile data to support counselors’ ongoing work with students and families. Register for a campus visit experience, including a student-led campus tour and an information session with an admissions counselor. Rising high school seniors may also schedule an interview.

The Diversity and Inclusion Visit Experience (DIVE) is a selective, all-expense paid fly-in program for curious, committed, high-achieving students from diverse backgrounds. Offered several times throughout the year, the DIVE program will introduce you to everything that W&L has to offer.
Johnson Scholarships are awarded to approximately 10% of each entering class. Winners of the Johnson Scholarship receive awards of at least full tuition, room and board to attend Washington and Lee University. Students with financial need higher than this amount will have any additional need met by the scholarship.
W&L is test-optional for first-year undergraduate applicants to the Class of 2027 and will continue to be test-optional for first-year applicants during the 2023-24 application cycle. For more information, please read our page on standardized testing.
We are looking for an exceptional group of 460 - 470 students who are curious, passionate about learning and will enliven our classrooms, who will excel on the playing fields and in the arts, who will produce high quality newspapers and magazines and who will participate in the 100+ clubs and student organizations on our campus.
We are pleased to host a bi-yearly program for school and community-based organization counselors to provide an introduction to our distinctive community. Typically held in late fall, the three-day program allows counselors to experience our tight-knit campus and personalized education, meet current students and support staff, explore the town of Lexington and engage one another in the issues that unite our collective work.
